This past weekend, four of Cayman’s strongest road cyclists—Chris Bodden, Andrew Ebanks, Jeremy Solomon, and Jerome Ameline—headed to Montego Bay to represent the island at the 3-Stage Jamaica Invitational Cycling Classic. This UCI-rated race drew elite riders from across the region, promising a highly competitive field, tough terrain, and a unique opportunity for Cayman’s athletes to test themselves on an international stage.

Backed by an experienced support team—Edward Harper, Lionel Durrant, and Denver Casayuran—our riders were equipped with the logistical, mechanical, and nutritional support needed to focus fully on performance. Spirits were high heading into Stage 1, and the team was eager to see how they stacked up against some of the best cyclists in the Caribbean.

However, racing is as unpredictable as it is intense. On the final loop of Stage 1, Jeremy Solomon was unfortunately forced to abandon the race due to severe cramps. Thankfully, he was able to get off the bike without incident, but his weekend was cut short.

Stage 2 proved to be just as demanding. The relentless terrain took its toll on Andrew Ebanks, who slipped outside of the time cut after falling off the main group and was therefore unable to continue to the final stage.

With just two riders left, Chris Bodden and Jerome Ameline lined up for the third and final stage—arguably the most challenging of the entire event. Though it was the shortest stage by distance, it featured the steepest climbs of the race, a brutal finale that required both grit and strategy. Despite the setbacks, our remaining riders pushed forward with determination and pride.

As the dust settled, what remained was more than just finishing stats—it was the experience. Each member of the team, whether they completed all stages or not, came away stronger, wiser, and even more motivated. The energy and growth seen at this year’s event was inspiring, a true reflection of the growing talent in Caribbean cycling.

Special thanks to Carlton Simmonds and his team for organizing such a powerful race weekend. The 2026 edition is already circled on our calendars.
