Cayman Cycling National Team athletes Chris Bodden and Jeremy Solomon recently represented the Cayman Islands at the 2025 Pan American Road Cycling Championships in Maldonado, Uruguay. Competing against the very best cyclists from across the Americas, both athletes showcased grit, determination, and true national pride on one of the sport’s biggest stages.

Time Trial: Bodden Battles the Clock

The championships kicked off with the Men’s Elite Individual Time Trial on the scenic coast of Maldonado. On Saturday, April 26, Chris Bodden took on the grueling 37.2 km course, going head-to-head with some of the fastest time trial specialists in the Western Hemisphere.

Time trialing — often called “the race of truth” — is a brutal test of mental and physical endurance, where riders are isolated against the wind, terrain, and the clock. Chris delivered a courageous performance, pushing his limits throughout the demanding route. While the result sheet may not show a podium finish, Chris’s ride was rich in heart and purpose. He wore the Cayman colors with pride, proving once again that our cyclists belong among the elite.

Road Race: Holding Strong Among the Continent’s Best

The excitement continued on Sunday, April 27, as Chris was joined by teammate Jeremy Solomon in the Men’s Elite Road Race — a true endurance test spanning 198.4 km over 16 laps along the picturesque Rambla Lorenzo Batlle.

The duo faced an international field packed with professional and national-level riders from powerhouse cycling nations. From the moment the flag dropped, the pace was relentless. But Chris and Jeremy held their own, staying within the main peloton for a significant portion of the race — a huge accomplishment in such a fiercely competitive environment.

Together, they completed 10 of the 16 intense laps, pushing through crosswinds, surges, and tactical shifts. More than a finish line, this race was a statement: Cayman Cycling is here, and we’re not backing down.

More Than a Race — A Moment of National Pride

Their participation in the Pan American Championships continues in Cayman Cycling’s journey, underlining how far our athletes have come — and how much further we can go. Competing at this level builds valuable experience, sharpens competitive instincts, and plants the seeds of ambition for future Caymanian cyclists.

As Chris and Jeremy and all our national athletes carry not just stories of hard-fought battles, but a new benchmark for what’s possible in Cayman sports.

The Pan Am Championships may be behind us, but this is just the beginning. Cayman Cycling is committed to building pathways for local athletes to train, race, and excel at the international level. With growing support from the community, sponsors, and fans, we’re excited about what lies ahead.
