Cayman Cycling is celebrating a weekend that will go down in history.
At the 2025 Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships in Barbados, Cayman’s own Ryan Thompson delivered a breakthrough performance — securing not one but two podium finishes and rewriting what’s possible for Caymanian cycling on the regional stage.
Silver in the Time Trial
The excitement began on Friday, when Ryan lined up for the Juvenile Individual Time Trial. With poise beyond his years, he powered through the course to claim 2nd place, making him the first Caymanian cyclist ever to medal at the Caribbean Championships across all categories.
It was a moment that signaled Cayman’s arrival at the highest levels of Caribbean cycling — and an achievement that instantly became part of our sporting history.
Bronze in the Road Race
Just two days later, Ryan returned to the start line for the Road Race, determined to back up his historic result. In an electrifying sprint finish from the chasing bunch, he crossed the line in 3rd place, adding a bronze medal to his tally.
Back-to-back podiums in a single championship weekend cemented Ryan’s reputation as one of the region’s brightest young talents and gave Cayman Cycling its best-ever results at the Caribbean level.
A Springboard to the Future
Ryan’s performances represent more than medals — they are a springboard moment for the future of Cayman Cycling. His success shows that Cayman athletes can compete with the best in the region and inspires the next generation to dream even bigger.
